MESI Simplifying Diagnostics Team is taking part at the Qualcomm Tricorder XPRIZE competition. Organized by the XPRIZE foundation, their mission is to "bring about radical breakthroughs for the benefit of humanity". The winner with the best device, delivering reliable health diagnoses directly to "health consumers" in their homes, will be awarded with $10 million.
A proven track record of radical innovation in the field of medical diagnostics is an excellent prospect for the XPRIZE challenge.
We created a platform with a diverse team of top notch interdisciplinary experts, exchanging disruptive ideas and co-creating new solutions, demonstrating the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
Our shared vision is to demistify medical diagnostics and make health a desirable part of everyone's life.
The first and biggest obstacle in making personal health an accessible, let alone appealing part of your life is helping you understand your body. The medical system nowadays is controlled by medical practitioners, while you, as the user, are usually left out and disconnected from your health condition (quite a paradox).
In order to disrupt and radically improve this system, we need to empower both users and medical practitioners with relevant, personalized data, provide them with choices and motivate action.
According to Albert Bandura, the most cited living psychologist, in order to change people's behaviour, we need to create a feedback loop between information and action.
In order to make the information relevant for you, the user, it has to come from your body.
Albert Bandura's self-efficacy model, as showcased by Thomas Goetz in his TED talk.
When we get the relevant personalized information about your medical condition, we need to interpret it by providing you with a clear, easy-to-understand status analysis and link them with different alternatives. The alternatives should always be linked with different actions, which again are linked to new personalized data.
Once every step in this feedback loop is accessible, easy to understand and user-friendly, we can expect real, tangible improvements.
United by a single vision, each one of the involved companies and organizations bring all their skills, experience and unique point of view to the table. We aim to create a powerful platform for the exchange of new ideas and solutions, ultimately leading to radical, disruptive innovation.
